Pacific Northwest Chapter of AFIO
Page last modified: December 29, 2011

Greetings Chapter Members from Seattle:
It is hard to believe that another year has past!

I would like to thank those of you who have supported the organization over the years.

It takes a lot of planning and effort to run the organization and I continue to ask you for your support in areas like: 1) researching, contacting and scheduling speakers, 2) scheduling of meeting rooms, 3) planning far enough in advance so that we can get better meeting attendance, 4) paying for the room and refreshments.

In the past couple of years we have not seen any activity in our chapter here in the Pacific Northwest. This has been due to 1) a few of our officers moving to different locations around the country and 2) to an aging membership populace. Add to that an abundance of other things to do in the Pacific Northwest and it gets increasingly harder to get an audience large enough to pay for everything.

I have heard some news in the past few days that Maher and a few other prior members may be trying to re-activate the chapter which would be FANTASTIC! We really need ways to keep an interest to learn more about the tradecraft in which many of us have spent a portion of our lives.

If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering for the leadership team, please let me know... I promise I'll get the word passed on to Maher as I know he will welcome the assistance.

Help us build a successful chapter and to educate others about our great intelligence community.

Keep in touch,

Fran Dyer

Our last meeting was held on December 19, 2009 at the Seattle Museum of Flight.

Our guest speaker was Mike Lavelle, Director of Development, The Museum of Flight. Mike gave a wonderful presentation about the history of the B-29 bomber and the B-17 and there affect on winning World War II. The cost for each member was $15 which also included admission to the museum.
